Dalia Truskaitė: “Many galleries in Vilnius are of that special kind that engages you in endless swampy discussions or quarrels with their spaces. This time my discussion ended like this. In a complete fiasco. I did not manage to find a place even for a single artwork. This space did not seem to lack any art at all. It was already almost fully filled. I had no other choice than to finish filling it.
Meanwhile, a sound is something that has been left behind closed doors in this exhibition. It emerged as a spontaneous and unplanned addition: apparently my subconsciousness could not put up with “exhibiting nothing” and the “exhibition” seemed very “viewer-unfriendly”. So the sound is a kind of backdrop for the “artwork”, it is something hiding behind the back of rational decisions, an artistic world far from the pragmatic reality, a squeak of a pencil that cherishes naïve illusions.
This exhibition speaks of the relationship between an artwork and a space. Only this time it`s a kind of “wrong-side-out” variant when one becomes another, when the meanings and emphases of a traditional dialogue between an artwork and space have swapped places. I exhibit the space.”
