GYTIS AROŠIUS. How Far Can You Climb, 2020

Gytis Arošius (b. 1996) is a painter whose cinematic and atmospheric works draw on the aesthetics of brutalist and utopian architecture, industrial structures, and military transport. His practice engages with retrofuturist themes, exploring the anticipation of impending catastrophe and the tensions produced by a technological world. In his work, architecture and machinery become metaphors for contemporary states of being and attempts to rationalise a sense of civilisational decline.
